I live in greater L.A. area, not as hi-tech as the Silicon Valley though, but hi-tech it is (I am within a couple of miles from PairGain HQ, just under 5 miles from Irvine where BroadCom is, 4 blocks from FlashCom and Boeing Space Division (The old McDonnell Douglass Space Div), just to give you an idea of the irony of the situation). GTE is serving my area, and I did call GTE, FlashCom, Covad, RoadRunner/TimeWarner Comm, you-named-it, several times about getting broadband Internet access (either cable or ADSL). The only option I have, so far, is IDSL-144K for $89.99/mo. :-(
