You failed to realize the beauty of windows is that there is no
admin on the user's
desktop. 2000 does provide a framework for remote
administering if it is ever
needed.

The beauty of Windows is always in the NEXT (any day now)
version. You must be late to the party. The rest of the world is
pretty much on to this BS nowadays, as well as the bit about "zero
administration desktop" (if it's ever needed). You guys have
become farcical.

And as you stated you need to be a "UNIX sys Admin" to
configure/install things
under Solaris. Your average end user is only going to create
havoc at the root
prompt trying to read man pages and executing cryptic
sequences of commands.

Solaris is a big boy OS. It's not made for or marketed to, "average
end users", although the day that AOL ports their software to x86
Solaris or Linux, is the day that Windows comes off of my
average end user mother in-law's Micron PC. There is no end to
the anguish that is the "Windows experience" for she and for me
on the other end of the phone. I'll save myself a lot of time in the long run just being the *nix root on her PC. Plus it'll keep things from getting inadvertently screwed up locally.

ROFL - what are you going to replace your home PC with ? To
date I know of no
ISP's that support JavaStations ... does JavaOS even support
modems ... if so
hopefully they've created a PPP wizard to help with the install ;
not likely ?

Say hello to my little friend (Jini)- rat-a-tat-tat <g>. I don't know
what the name or the brand, or the configuration of my future thin
client will be. I *do know that I'll have absolutely no need to
upgrade the CPU on my PC before then.
