REB: SI Administration has no policy requiring its staff to inform SI members before or after member's personal information has been turned over to a third party.

I inquired to find out if SI had ever provided my personal information to a third party, for any reason. To obtain a simple yes or no, required several correspondence and still after many days no answer. It took a EMail to the Executive VP, to get an appropriate reply, the answer to my question.

Some excerpts from the correspondence from SI's legal department.

SI makes an effort to inform its members when identifying information about them is requested in a subpoena. Due to time constraints, however, SI does not always have the time to inform its members of such subpoenas. For example, many times a subpoena will be received by SI from the government or a private party which has a very limited response time…..

…..SI responds to dozens of subpoenas each week. We will conduct a search for the information you request but please be patient as it will require someone in our department spending several hours combing through the subpoena files.
