SI's subpoena policy Has anyone on this thread brought up SI's apparent policy of releasing personal information in response to a subpoena without notifying the person whose information they are about to release, or giving that person a chance to challenge the subpoena? It concerns me that any one of us can be identified for merely the price of filing a lawsuit, even if the lawsuit is immediately dropped after the identity of the poster is discovered. SI goes through great pains to protect our anonymity by deleting identifying posts and booting posters who reveal true identities, but it seems that all of this can be thwarted by filing a lawsuit and serving SI with a subpoena. Someone can file a lawsuit against you with the court and never serve you with the complaint, and thus in theory, you may never know anything about the lawsuit or that SI has been contacted about your identity. And if SI fails to tell you, which they appear to do consistently, you won't know that someone has your true identity. Comments? Peter
