Why are you so worked up over comments on message boards and newsgroups. You should look at the comments made by policymakers and analysts.

As for lulling ourselves into feeling superior we never had that problem. We've always been superior. :)

Apparently it doesn't sink into pakistanis what a nuclear war started by pakistan can do to pakistan. The fact is that India cannot prevent the nutcases in pakistan from pressing the buttons. Only the other pakistan can do that. You harping on "don't comprehend" is moot. If pakistan thinks that nuclear blackmail is the solution they are solely mistaken and they are beginning to find it so.

Looks like they don't mind being either dead or hanging by their shredded and mutilated bodies as long as the other guy is in rags.

If you read the comments and anaysis all of them accept the reality that it may be inevitable, and that pakistan is closer to launching nuclear weapons not out of self-defence but out of humiliation and insanity. It seems that the only way for pakistan to get out of the quagmire is to back-off or use their nuclear arsenal. The former may restore some credibility, and pakistanis don't have to bother ever when the latter happens.

But the question of how india reacts and what it has to do when that happens are the questions that need to be answered.
