** OT GTE DSL offering **

Doug,

<List of GTE DSL packages deleted.>

I believe you missed the point. Count your luck if you can have DSL. For the less unfortunates like I am, I can only wait for RoadRunner to call me.
I called GTE, and found out that all these packages are good only if you are within 14K ft of a central office. They have the audacity of asking me to move my house in order to get their DSL service, when I asked them how likely they would place a new Central Office to be within 14K ft of my house. <VBG>

The point I am trying to make in my last few posts are indeed on topics despite the OT label. The point is DSL is not available to everybody, or at least, it is not affordable the way Covad/FlashCom charge for their 144K IDSL service, because for 1/2 the IDSL-144 $89.99 monthly fee, Cable Modem brings you 10 times the speed (of IDSL). In addition, phone companies are very reluctant to upgrade their infrastructures for the need of a few unlucky residential customers like I am, and are loosing business to Cable Modems. Cable companies are willing to spend $$ to run new fiber optic wires where I live.
