AT&T's TDMA cellular system is not compatible with any existing GlobalStar CDMA or GSM phones.

Of course, if they were to decide to switch to a CDMA system, that would rather change things. Don't hold your breath.

Bell Atlantic, on the other hand, has an extensive 800 MHz CDMA network. A friend who works in one of their retail outlets says he has heard rumors of their selling a new satellite phone soon.
