John,

I'll try to find out what my ISP is paying for a PRI ISDN line. A PRI is the equivalent of a T1, and you can get ISDN PRI's cheaper than a T1 in my area. I have a ELI price list that does not show ISDN pricing and the price for a T1 is $2,000 per month. I'd have to double check but I think you can get a US West PRI for around $1,300. My ISP has two (maybe more now) T1's going out to the backbone and ISDN PRI's as their dial up. They still have regular analog lines but have encouraged people to use the digital number. There modems detect whether it is analog or digital call and interesting note I get a 33.6 connection all the time now with x2 Courier. I use to always get a 31.2 connection, can't figure that out as they use ROK based products.

I don't see ISDN ever getting real big. There are just too many headaches associated with it. But IMO the RBOC's have done little too encourage development.
