LARGE METEOR HITS NEW ZEALAND! DATELINE: NEW ZEALAND. Teresa George reporting... In what some are calling the precursor to the Comet Lee strike late this summer in the Northern Hemisphere, a large carbonaceous meteor struck the country of New Zealand last night. The meteor left a large, smoky trail. It was spotted by airline pilots as it zoomed through the atmosphere in a fiery descent.
