NewsEdge Corporation Names Ronald Benanto CFO
New Chief Financial Officer to Replace Retiring Ed Siegfried
BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 8, 1999--NewsEdge Corporation (Nasdaq:NEWZ - news), the independent leader in global news and current awareness solutions, announced today that it has named Ronald Benanto to the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. With an extensive career at the CFO, General Manager and senior VP
levels, Benanto brings to NewsEdge a wealth of experience managing the financial function and operations of technology companies.
Benanto will begin at NewsEdge immediately, replacing outgoing CFO Ed Siegfried who announced plans for his retirement from his full time position last October. Siegfried was a founder of the Company and has been Chief Financial Officer since 1989. Benanto's appointment follows recent additions to NewsEdge's senior management team: On April 7, NewsEdge named Cliff Pollan to the position of President and COO; and on April 22, Ilene Lang was named as President and CEO of
NewsPage.com, a wholly owned subsidiary of NewsEdge Corporation.
Benanto joins NewsEdge from ProTeam.com of Secaucus N.J. (Nasdaq:PRTM - news), where he was CFO of the Web sports retailer. Prior to that, he was CFO for Marlboro, Mass. Viewlogic Systems, a $130 million electronic CAD software business. Before Viewlogic, Benanto spent time as VP of Finance and Operations for Symbolics, Inc.; and earlier was a
General Manager and then CFO of Management Decision Systems.
