Stopping programs ... As a general rule, I stop, or don't start, stuff while installing software, but leave the background stuff running when I'm running regular programs. Unusual programs require a judgement call. My judgement gets better after each mess! I suppose we're discussing two different things: running software and installing software. Each requires a different approach. Thank-you for being persistent enough to clear up the foggy parts. Cheers, PW.
