[Bloomberg terminal, anyone???]

This was sent to me via email this evening. Does anyone have access to a Bloomberg terminal so they can post a more complete story? The information re: Ascend's robust sales coincides with what we were told on the last conference call.

Thanks in advance.

Pat

>>>There was a story that appeared on Bloomberg News around 3:30 Friday afternoon that I think is extremely telling about Ascend, and about what they're doing to Cisco...If anybody has a copy or can post it here, PLEASE do...I'd suggest everybody who's interested in Ascend read it...In a nutshell, the story's header says something like "Ascend Takes Issue with Cisco Over Slowdown in Internet Business"...The story goes on to quote a Mr. Brian Thompson of Ascend' Internet Product Sales division..and paraphrasing, he says that he doesn't agree with John Chambers sweeping assesment of a slowdown in the purchase of access equipment by ISP's...and says that he sees NO such slowdown and in fact sees Ascend "taking share" with their recently unveiled products...He says that Large ISP's are expanding rapidly and that they'll need 10 FOLD INCREASES in BANDWIDTH within 1 YEAR...and that if asked whether business in that segment of networking is slowing down, his answer is an unqualified NO.......The article then quotes Paul Wick who manages the Seligman Growth and Technology fund...and he says (paraphrasing again) that although he's still cautious on most internet related companies he does hold Ascend stock and that "They have a couple of new products that are absolutely ON FIRE"......This article FLIES in the face of what John Chambers said this week...again, Cisco is engaging in a huge propoganda war right now (in my opinion) because they are getting their CLOCK cleaned by Ascend in the Remote Access area and in the high end Router area......This is going to be REAL apparent after the upcoming earnings call from Ascend...Oh, and one last thing, Mr. Thompson from Ascend said that They are "very comfortable" with analysts estimates for the quarter...this should give people some confidence in the very short term...at least ONE company in the networking group is performing.......>>>>
