There's an article about SEBL in the 8/99 issue of Individual Investor magazine. Some points--- the front office market is $2.6 billion, expected to reach $9 billion by 2002. SEBL is the leader but has only a 15% market share. SEBL also moving into e-commerce software market with Siebel 99. This is a small market now ($440 million) expected to grow 30 fold to $13.1 billion by 2003. The article mentioned Oracle as a competitor with it's new customer relationship management, but says the market is growing so fast has ample room for more than one player.
Interestingly, ORCL is mentioned as a main competitor to another of my stocks, CTXS. Maybe it's time to take a good look at Oracle.
I take these projections with a big grain of salt, but if they are even half right the market is growing so fast that 100% perfection isn't needed to make a company in the field prosper.
