Rational business behavior would dictate that a global marketer and manufacturer not ignore the lion's share of the largest market in the world. Therefore if totally rational people are running ERICY they would eventually come to an accord which would allow them to enter and compete in that market with guns blazing. The way they have seized a huge percentage of the amps market from MOT shows they have good design and technical capability which they most certainly can bring to bear making cdma products which assuredly would be very competitive.

HOWEVER, they may be victims of their own hubris, having decried cdma as nonviable for so long, they may have decided that indeed it will fall apart at the seams and all they have to do is wait around and step into the resultant vacuum, giving a not so gentle shove from time to time to keep the baby off balance. On the other hand the baby may not be so readily inclined to allow big brother into the playpen and wants to exact a large toll as a price for prior transgressions. The price may be steeper than ERICY wants to pay.

Nothing in this scenario is as straightforward as one would like in order to be able to discern the future. I think that the onus is now on ERICY, with all the strategic agreements and licenses in place, if they do not act in a timely fashion, they will be too late to market in the cdma arena.
