Yes, I am in Taiwan but I am NOT a Taiwanese.

I do NOT know what GVC is doing now. To be honest, the speed of internet in Taiwan today just reach 38 Kbps. What a shame! The price
to connect internet is high. I am just a little bit lucky as the
government give me a free connection for research purpose.

It seems to me the Taiwanese is so interested in the 56Kbps now inside
Taiwan now. Even my computer manager in our institute does not know the exsistence of 56 Kbps. I told him that and it seemed that I was
joking to him. It is strange, isn't it?

However, I would not be surprised GVC will give out a 56Kbps mdoem sooner or later. GVC is on the list of Rockwell.

The government bought me a GVC modem 28Kbps. I wish to dump it to the trash. It is difficult to install and have a lot of problems. GVC have a good business in modem but fail in notebook.

I agree that there is a lot of small details that Taiwanese does not care enough. I am not surprised that they do not dress up right in the clean room. However, my research money comes from Taiwan. I need to say something nice to them. Most of the high tech companies now a day already got ISO9000. So they are up to the standard. Most of those companies are very strong too and very aggressive. The science park is extending to the 3rd phase and is under high demand for land to build factory. The science park will build a new park in the south too next year. It is the future of my source of research money.
