What do you really think would be best for the consumer?" My answer was
open access.

Be careful what you wish for, you might get it. A while back we all cheered the breakup of T and I was one of the first to switch to MCI for long distance, shooting the finger at Ma Bell.Now....oh how I long for the days when I wasn't constantly bothered by long distance companies calling me at home and at my business trying to get me to switch. And yes I've been slammed and crammed, both of which, took months and countless phone calls to sort out. All the while, my total phone bills have skyrocketed. What am I getting at? Picture yourself at home around dinner time getting the calls from all the ISPs to switch to them....or worse, they have pop-up ads, delivered straight to your desktop. When I heard that they were openning up both the local phone service and the local utility to competition I just screamed in horror.

Give me an ISP that works, period!

Someone did a study years ago that compared consumer appliances in this country to those in Europe. The Americans had twenty choices for everything, the Germans maybe three.....guess who had better quality products? The Europeans....even when the appliances were made by the same company! Choice and competition is way over rated as a method to acheive quality.
