- Shareholders approve agreement with stockSet Associates
- stockSet internet site launched
TORONTO, July 8 /CNW/ - At a shareholders' meeting on June 25, 1999, International Pursuit Corporation's (''Pursuit'') shareholders approved the entering into of the agreement with stockSet Associates. Pursuant to this agreement, the initial version of the stock information site that is called stockSet.com (''stockSet'') is being released. The site was developed by stockSet.com, Inc., a Delaware corporation, 50% owned by Pursuit. The site may be found at stockset.com.
stockSet.com is a stock information site for active investors. User friendly information, comparative data and up-to-date proprietary analysis is provided. Initially only information about Internet companies will be available.
The site is technology driven and automated with streamlining and workflow to meet the online investor's need for comprehensive easily accessible information. Without leaving stockSet.com, users view all major news stories and message boards about any Internet company.
stockSet provides a directory and indexing of Internet industries. Proprietary stockSet indices of subcategories track investor activity. Users can investigate stocks and industries for portfolio management. The site provides daily tables showing leading Internet Industry gainers and losers as well as individual stock performance. stockSet users may focus on specific Internet areas of interest and make their buy/sell/hold decisions.
The site is user friendly and does not overwhelm users during the course of the trading day with irrelevant and overwhelming amounts of information. stockSet.com will add additional unique editorial features to assist Internet investors.
stockSet is a joint venture of Pursuit and stockSet Associates of Lawrence, New York. stockSet is managed by Gidon Wise, who is a holder of a M.Sc. in computer science from the Courant Institute of New York University, and is involved in several Internet projects.
The Internet space for stock information sites is very competitive and potentially highly rewarding for shareholders who own part of the space. The Street.com, recently raised funds in an initial public offering, reached a market capitalization in excess of $1.5 billion USD.
Pursuit believes that there is room for niche players in the financial information area and selected as a starting point to provide selective information about Internet companies.
Pursuit is a Toronto Stock Exchange listed company (symbol "IPJ'') with mineral exploration and development properties in the Philippines and exploration properties in Indonesia.
Pursuit is examining investment opportunities to broaden the scope and applications of stockSet.com and to provide additional financial services.
