Yeah, and look where Peoplesoft is now. That's where Yahoo will end up.

Cisco is playing the game too, but not to the extent that Yahoo does. They at least have quarters where the acquisitions had minimal effect on pro-forma vs. actual. For Yahoo it makes the difference between a profit and loss!

The technique of acquiring R&D is fine, but when it happens every quarter and has such a material affect in a re-curring fashion, that's not fine. It's recklessly misleading, and a disservice to investors. It covers up the true picture so that they can achieve the highest market cap possible in the short-run...because the management only cares about the 4-year scenario.
