Re - what is your basis for belief that the banks won't close, or for only a few days at most?

Hi Ken,

From what I have read, I think that the banks are somewhat farther ahead than most industries in fixing the problem ... Not to say there are not some banks behind. Credit cards and debit cards are now being issued with dates beyond 2000 without problems. I think the banks and government will restrict withdrawals as necessary to stay open.

I am more worried about the oil industry, international trade, manufacturing (problems with JIT inventory), chemicals, transportation, utilities and government.

Unlike Cheeky Kid and some others on the thread, I am old enough to have been lied to many times by politicians, government and big business ... I doubt if they have changed their morals overnight, so I share your concerns.

Thanks for the information on the cash laws.

John

PS - Suggestion for those that don't prepare ... Get yourself shots for flu, pneumonia, etc, lots of deodorant and ear plugs ... Shelters holding a few hundred people are not very nice after a few days.
