Hmmm. evidently not.

Point 1: CF is integrated in virtually every portable niche already. 48MB CF is also the #95 best-selling product at cnet's shopper.com It is therefore NOT by definition "prohibitively expensive."

Point 2: CF is also rapidly coming down in price. But this is not necessarily leading to people buying MORE CF cards. It is actually leading people to buying LARGER CAPACITY CARDS. This is just another achilles heel of Iomega's Flop. Flop! cannot grow in capacity. The 64MB CF Cards will soon overtake the 48MB in sales. And the 96MB CF is shipping and will sell better and better... the 256MB CF Cards are coming off the drawing boards and onto production lines...

The point is, in the portable niche, people are not interested in keeping track of dozens of little cards or disks. They want a clean all-in-one solution. And Flash Cards offer this in spades. No keeping track of and swapping-out of disks, lost disks, fumbling around in a cluttered bag, etc.

This is the reason why LARGER CF cards are selling better than 8 or 16MB CF. This is another reason why Flop! will fail. CAPACITY not $/MB is the more important aspect in the portable niche. The market is bearing this out.
