DJ Salomon Picks 15 Stocks As Standouts For Next 12 Months
NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Salomon Smith Barney on Thursday selected 15 stocks that its investment strategists consider to be attractive investment opportunities for the coming year.
Salomon, a unit of Citigroup Inc. (C), picked Albertson's Inc. (ABS), Allstate Corp. (ALL), Amgen (AMGN), Bank of New York (BK), Dayton Hudson (DH), Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Fort James Corp. (FJ), Honeywell Inc. (HON), Lucent Technologies Inc. (LU), Marsh & McLennan Cos. (MMC), MCI WorldCom Inc. (WCOM), Mobil Corp. (MOB), Pitney Bowes (PBI), Raytheon Co. (RTNA RTNB), and Tyco International Ltd. (TYC).
The stocks are part of Salomon's "Ten + Exceptional Names," which the firm's investment strategists believe will outperform the other 2,600 companies their analysts follow globally over the next 12 months. The stocks are based on sector analysts' investment picks, then are winnowed down by Salomon's strategists.
Last year's list has risen 42.79% from July 2, 1998 to July 2, 1999, according to a press release from the firm. Salomon began picking the Ten + list in 1994.
