Micron Technology, Inc., Announces 125MHz, 143MHz and 166MHz 2 Meg x 32 Synchronous DRAMs Micron Continues to Broaden DRAM Offering to Support Multiple Applications BOISE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Junly 8, 1999--Micron Technology, Inc., today announced samples of 125MHz, 143MHz and 166MHz 2 Meg x 32 synchronous DRAMs (SDRAMs), manufactured on Micron's advanced .18 micron process technology, for use in graphics, telecommunications and networking applications.
''The 2 Meg x 32 SDRAM is targeted at graphics and telecom applications and allows customers to improve their memory density with minimal design effort. As the industry migrates to higher density frame buffers, this 64 Meg device allows designers to hit higher bandwidth with a minimum amount of devices down,'' said Gary Welch, Micron Product Marketing Manager. ''This part is perfect for the designer who wants to make the most of high bandwidth capabilities without paying high premiums. Because it is running on .18 micron process technology, this part will be highly competitive in terms of price and performance.''
With 1Meg x 16 and 4 Meg x 16 SDRAMs currently in volume production, the introduction of the 2 Meg x 32 SDRAM continues to broaden Micron's specialty DRAM offering. The company initiated its DDR SDRAM product offering with the 167MHz 512K x 32 DDR SGRAM and will provide 2 Meg x 32 DDR SDRAMs later this year. Both DDR SDRAM densities are offered in Micron's TQFP packaging, providing customers with an easy upgrade path. ''Micron is dedicated to offering our customers multiple DRAM solutions across the board and maintaining long-term support of the solutions our customers need,'' said Jeff Mailloux, Micron DRAM Marketing Manager. ''We will continue to expand our family of commodity DRAMs, as well as those targeted at graphics and telecommunications applications, providing customers with a multitude of choices from a single source.''
Offered in JEDEC standard 86-pin 400 mil TSOP packages, samples of 125MHz 2 Meg x 32 SDRAMs (MT48LC2M32B2TG-8), 143MHz 2 Meg x 32 SDRAMs (MT48LC2M32B2TG-7) and 166MHz 2 Meg x 32 SDRAMs (MT48LC2M32B2TG-6) are now being shipped for testing and evaluation.
