Speaking of MCI WorldCom, it was among the 15
stocks that Salomon Smith Barney just named in
its list of "Ten+ Exceptional Names" for the
coming year. The other 14 are Albertson's,
Allstate, Amgen, Bank of New York, Dayton Hudson,
EDS, Fort James, Honeywell, Lucent, Marsh & McLennan,
Pitney Bowes, and Raytheon. The 1998 list, according
to the firm, has risen 42.8% vs. a 23.3% gain for
the S&P 500 over the same period.... Biogen beat
the Street's earnings consensus by 2 cents in the
latest quarter. Look for strength in this Boston
biotech company Friday.... I can't wait for next
week. Some huge earnings reports are due out like
Intel and Motorola on Tuesday and Apple and Ford on
Wednesday.... Expect shares of Qualcomm to jump on
Friday. It's replacing Transamerica in the S&P 500.>> |
