Back when I had the time I would go flats fishing for 3 days every 2 weeks just below Tallahassee Fl.

I can remember a few times being caught several miles off short in what they call a neep tide. The normal water level even that far out is normal about 6 to 8 ft only. During a neep tide all of the water on the flats is sucked out to sea for several hours and your boat literally sits on the bottom of the ocean floor.

It is a strange thing to be able to step out of the boat and walk 100's of yards away in only a few inches of water. The best thing to do is to throw back a few beers while you are waiting for the water and the fish to return!

sipping coffee this early!
