Skeeter, If Joe customer was standing in front of two identical PCs, one with sdram for $900 and one with rambus for $1100 I agree only certain groups would choose the latter. But.. that ain't how its gonna happen. Engineers at HP, Intel, Compaq, Dell are only half the equation, don't forget the marketing and sales teams! All of the manufactures will likely carefully bundle their offerings so joe is never presented the "to Rambus or not to rambus option." Joe user will have a set of carefully packaged systems and options to choose from and likely he will be bewildered by them all. It will be impossible to break out the cost of the rambus, it will be lost in the system along with the 16X DVD, 27 gig drive... Lastly lets be real, engineers are NOT the folks calling the shots at the pc makers, only if the sales and marketing team feel rambus will be a hit, will Dell sell it, and obviously they do feel it will be!
