intel is a good ally. however, let's say they could force everyone to use rdram. boom, bam. rdram is the standard. that doesn't mean people will pay up for it. if they don't, then fewer units get sold at higher prices and the box makers get squeezed big when even dell's growth is slowing considerably. rambus will make out. everyone else will be in the toilet - even intel. they'll sell fewer ics. so, ultimately, it is joe sixpack and it pros that will decide this. i feel folks are underestimating the power of current boxes. 386s are a joke. 486s are a joke. p166s aren't too bad. again, for 90% of the population. the population that will decide rdram's success.
