Obviously, I have no knowledge in that area, but I'd like to hear the answers to your questions, as well.
It does seem to me. though, that the best application might be more in the area of wilderness and conservation land management, as well as wildlife management. this would go much further than detecting weeds. In some ways this work would be similar to what you discussed for agriculture, however, we are talking about far greater amounts of land and far more difficult access. Moreover, wildlife management information might be a major piece of what could be improved upon with the probe.
