Wexler goes short WAVX and IDTC.

As I have stated many times before, I don't short net stocks with very rare exceptions. These exceptions are the companies that attempt to position themselves as internet or e-commerce concerns, but really aren't (EGGS being a great example, and a very profitable short).

I've been following the IDTC saga for some time now, and it has become clear that fraud and underhanded dealings have tainted the company. The cultlike following and excessive promotion on message boards also raises concerns. The Net2phone IPO is a huge red herring, since the technology is lousy and its business just plain sucks.

The WAVX business model does not make sense. It sort of reminds me of the hoopla a decade ago surrounding the manufacturers of hardware "dongles" that would act as security lock for software packages. WAVX is an internet reincarnation of the same bad idea, with the extra added delusion that they are going to get a piece of every transaction that washes over their chipsets. Not likely.
