VANCOUVER, BC July 9, 1999 Starpoint Goldfields Inc. (VSE:STS) advises peace talks to end the 11-month war in the Democratic Republic of Congo culminated in agreement from all stakeholders. A Peace Agreement signing by the African heads of State is scheduled for Saturday, July 10, 1999 in Zambia.
The Company's exploration and development program on its gold and diamond concessions is being evaluated in order to resume work begun prior to the civil war. In addition, the Company will pursue geological and mining records of previous operators from the BRGM in France and the Royal African Museum in Brussels.
During the past several months, the Company has received expressions of interest regarding its tantalite concession. Increased demand for tantalite has been attributed to strong sales in products containing tantalum capacitors, such as, portable telephones, pagers, video cameras, personal computers and automotive electronics.
