Is it possible that gnet through Allen might be one of the suiters of mindspring ?

I can see how a dial-up ISP with its own backbone might fit into the Vulcan Wired World, but don't see why GNET would be involved. For Vulcan, an ISP like MindSpring might help them fill in the wide gaps where they don't have cable properties, especially if Vulcan were to use it to provide DSL service where they don't have cable.

Mindspring's backbone might also help them provide service on cable. As I understand it, several of the Charter systems are in the southeast. That's also where Mindspring's backbone is concentrated, so there might be a good fit there. Mindspring's backbone might also be useful as as an extension of InterNAP's network, even though Mindspring mostly uses small pipes compared to the massive capacity InterNAP has on theirs.

But all of that is a much different business than what GNET does, so I would be surprised to see the two mixed up with one another in any signficant way.
