I would never deny that women are as competent as men, or more competent than men, in the fields in which they excel. In music, women obviously excel in performance, and in conducting. In many fields of academia, women are at the forefront - what comes to mind is anthropology, archeology, ethnology, linguistics, psychology, sociology, medicine, biology, history, - I don't know, almost everything. Which is why the lacunae puzzle me.
I took it for granted that others would understand that when I commented on the lacunae I did not need to reassure the reader that I thought these things were anomalous - I do. |
