I've been on this thread for probably 4 years. In that time SGI has almost continuously disappointed investors. All of your positive signs sound good. We old timers of this thread saw a lot of positive signs as well several years ago. The rise of the internet was going to make server makers rich. Some called this a "Super Stock" from a book of the same name by Ken Fisher. The company had many of the signs of a growth stock which had simply stumbled and was about to turn the corner and resume its ascent.

We optimists were all wrong. Sun Micro beat the pants off SGI in the server market. I'll quote the old Ed once more: "Our marketing has sucked for 15 years." Reflecting the old SGI mantra of "solving the world's toughest problems," they were way too focused on making the coolest stuff and trying to be the techno kings of the Valley instead of building a solid business and serving their not so geeky customers.

What I'm saying is that they've been in a long term down trend. You think they're out of it but those of us who've been around are not convinced the new "sgi" (less arrogant logo) is for real, that they have indeed effected a culture change on campus, and that they are ready for prime time. You may be right, but I remain doubtful.
