When I was a teenager I used to frequent an excellent used bookstore in upstate NY, which is still there, run by a very proper and well educated British woman married to a large and well spoken black man, Jamaican I believe. They had a superb "old books" section, and once while browsing in it I discovered a fascinating edition of The Odyssey. It was a student's book, bilingual. The easy side was in Latin, the difficult side in Greek. It was published in London, in 1644, and was still in useable, if somewhat battered, condition. She wanted $75 for it, which at that time was a fortune to me, but I wish I'd bought it. I wonder who did.
