In both dirt and life. I've heard don't work the dirt when it's dead, meaning November through March here. Life and soil are the same, periods of rest and times to change. You try to change at the wrong time and you get compaction which makes it all a whole bunch worse.

You see a limb coming, duck, and I don't mean stick your head up and look for one.
