Here's a link to the NIH which provides information on currently available pharmaceutical treatments for obesity: niddk.nih.gov The discussion of the effectiveness of these five medications (diethylpropion, Mazindol, phendimetrazine, phentermine, and Sibutramine) indicates that there is a largely unmet need for effective anti-obesity treatments.
