RTev, FWIW this site looks like the one SI is emulating to a large extent. The funny thing is, about a year and a half ago when they launched that site, I wrote Brad to alert him to the fact that they were copying him. He commented at the time that he felt it would encourage them to make improvements people had been asking for. Shortly thereafter, we had the spell checker function added along with private MSG's.
Now the shoe appears on the other foot.

The new site could work and become a better product if they gave us some value added functions. A few I would like to see....
1. A method where you could add your picture if you wanted to in your profile.
2. The ability to add more than the 5 or so links as favorites in your profile. 30 or 40 would be nice.
3. A small link attached to each bookmark stock thread which told you if any new news was posted since you last looked. A small red number next to "news" would work fine to me, similar to the inbox.
4. The ability to fully customize your own homepage, with rich detail comparable to the CNN NEWS or the Yahoo site, but aligned with the SI tools of the community. I would even have a small link which gave you local weather. Many of the participants like myself probably use SI as their home page. Go2Net could cut into this market in a big way if they added some of those broad based functions.
5. The search engine capability has been mentioned so numerously it hardly bears repeating. But I would like to be able to find ANY post someone has posted, with multiple search capabilities as far back as the database goes.
6. The ability to shift easily and quickly to a chat mode would be terrific. Instead, many of the people use other tools such as ICQ or AOL's message service. Why not offer their own integrated system with the site?
7. Set up a partnership with the Edgar people so we have access to their entire database of SEC documents. Give them free advertising if need be.
8. Expand the magazine section and draw on the vast talent of SI participants to write industry articles. Pay them for the work if you need to. We have so many terrific writers here it's simply awesome!
9. Set up a portal where we could hear as many as possible quarterly earnings reports in real time using such tools as Real Video.
10. In the "Coffee Shop" area's offer guest speakers a chance to interact with SI customers, in such area's as politics, sports, or technology issues.
That's enough off the top of my head... I'll grant that some of these are pie-in-the-sky dreams, but I believe they would truly set Go2net up as the premier investment bulletin board on the web.
