I for one would love to see Qwest purchase US West but not Frontier. Frontier adds little to their network, does add a number of customers, but is too expensive. Let GBLX have them - we'll take US West. Qwest absolutely needs to fill its pipes. Adding customers through marketing is too expensive and takes too long. Qwest must become a worldclass carrier in short order if they are to survive. If this plays out and the acquisition is made, I expect another blockbuster acqusition next year - perhaps a large foreign (Europe maybe) company - or maybe Bell South. Big is definately better in telecom.

Now if WCOM buys Bell Atlantic & ATT or Sprint buys SBC/Ameritech, that would just about do it.
