Bearcub, We have 6 months supply of canned food, many containers of Water and enough firewood to keep warm during the winter of 2000 here in NY.
What ticks me off here is that my mother has rheumatoid arthritis and Oxford will not give her medication ( Embryl from Immunex- a miracle drug ) more than a month in advance. To get more than a months supply, she has to pay $1,000 per month.
It is amazing how unprepared everyone is. When I talk to people about the Y2K Impact, they laugh in my face. They think I'm nuts. Ed Yardeni was on cable here In NYC ( Channel 25: Black Channel) last night telling everyone how serious the situation is.
I know that Henry Kissenger took all his money out of the bank a few months ago. I'm wondering: Do You think it's safe to keep any money in the bank or in a Brokerage Account? I'm seriously considering transferring all my remaining paper assets into Gold Bullion. I'm 1/3 invested in Gold Mining Stocks now and 2/3 in Cash.
What do you think will happen to brokerage accounts during the crisis? How will I be able to sell my Gold Mining Stocks during the midst of the Y2K Impact after they sky rocket?
