Bill, The shift to distributed computing will surely fall right into the "parallel application servers" environment you mention. The standards for the application servers such as Corba, EJB (Enterprise Java Beans) will help in making it a reality. With "internet/intranet enabled" and "openness" (read open APIs) becoming requirements for any new systems development, distributed applications development is set to explode. I hadn't thought about how this shift would impact the hardware industry - your view makes a lot of sense to me. thanks for the interesting post. Claude
