Re: Broadband & PC Demand
MD cites broadband as a main contributor to future PC demand. I suppose he knows what he's talking about, but I wish I had more specifics.
I tried the Roadrunner service for the first time over the weekend, and, although I loved the service, there is not much there which requires a whole lot of PC power - yet.
Example: You could watch movies from Yahoo/Broadcast.com, but they had to be watched in a small window on your computer due to low resolution of the broadcast images.
From what I could tell, broadband - in its initial iteration - will not require much from your PC.
But the next generation of broadband - which I believe will require another round of infrastructure upgrade - will require a more powerful PC. However, that is probably years away.
So my conclusion, without talking to "MD the expert", is that broadband will spur PC demand - but not for 3 to 5 years, perhaps longer.
I could be wrong but, based on observation, that's the way I see it. |
