Bill,

"The emperor has no clothes". Internal self criticism of the copmany gets stifled at all levels and people stop sticking their nose out, and thus gains are lost, error correction is hobbled.

This is the absolute opposite of most reports and writings on Intel corporate culture that I've read. Confrontation is the name of the game there. Maybe they've grown so large, that the confrontation culture is less effective than it once was, but to deny their adherence to quality engineering principles is to deny reality.
