Frankly, Christine, the people who "shared beds" were, for the most part, working people who worked VERY long days, and often nights...I think most of them were probably too tired to do anything but sleep...People would fall in heaps, fully clothed, and start snoring away. Not a very inviting sight, I would imagine. Of course, kids got used to seeing the sexual act (although it was probably pretty short & furtive, generally speaking).
