Charles--Attaching rocket to an asteroid would be possible though expensive. Difficult to be economical when a mission to Mars (a closer destination) would be 40 to 400 billion. There is also the problem of orbital insertion. Tiny error in the calculations with an asteroid weighing many thousands of tons and the insertion might be in Kansas.
