You guys who are in favor of open cable access are forgeting one very major point - ATT is our only near to intermediate hope for local phone competition. If T is forced to open up cable to others, it will definately delay competition in the local loop for several years at least. It's a big mistake to do this. Further, even ADSL will slow down because bells will see the slowdown in cable and won't deploy ADSL as fast because it removes a very lucrative source of revenue = T1.

Eventually T is going to have to open up cable access - it's the fair thing to do. But FCC believes local loop competition is more important than open cable, so they choose to let T have their way for awhile in order to make the investments. It's a policy decision. I agree with it - we'll see if the aholes in Congress can see beyond their wallets but i doubt it.
