In fact, Irwin by no means developed this alone, as far as I can tell. Most of the key patents have someone else's name on them. Sorry, but I forget his name right now. (Maybe that kind of makes your point as to anonymity). Anyway, the head scientist--and his wife, also an engineer--were apparently key to the technology's coming to maturity. They have remained in Q's employ, and have enjoyed substantial options, I believe. Someone posted awhile ago on the Q thread that they have lessened their day-to-day involvement in the last couple of years. (This is all coming from a very foggy memory. Don't bet on its accuracy).

Anyway, this all wasn't a one man effort in the Edison mode. More like Apple? (I'd say Microsoft-like, but they never developed anything on their own, so the analogy wouldn't be correct).
