Fred, AMD is doing better technically precisely because Jerry has been read the roit act by his board. They may be tame, but they are not stupid and have been steadily distancing Jerry from the day to day. New high end tech employees are getting "Jerry hands off" rules written into their contracts(I have no direct evidence of this, just surmise it from comments made here and there)
Even Jerry has to get it right a few time. Being amsller has allowed AMD to innovate at a faster pace than Intel, even as Intel strews the path with barbed wire, AMD has advanced upon the leader.

Can Intel recognise glitches and correct them? Maybe, unless they have powerful sponsors, like Rambus.
The 133 Mhz bus strategy should have been readied way back, long before Rambus stumbled. Unless killing 133 was a kill AMD strategy?
As to the future of Rembus?, will there be a fork in the road, like IBM wanted with microchannel, with Rambus on one side and 133 on the other. WIll 133 eventually kill Rambus....at these prices they will surely kill Rambus.
Now Intel wants to make Rambus the only bus you can ride...good luck.

Bill
