"Nobody buys our exports because we are not competitive."

ROFL again! Last time I checked US companies are world leaders in most technology exports (with a few notable exceptions like Nokia). Can you name a single significant non-US competitor to INTC, MSFT, IBM, CSCO, etc? Also check out their % international business! Maybe you are suffering too many disconnects down there. :-)

Our trade deficit has much more to do with our strong economy driving imports than our export competitiveness. Now if the ROW will just apply our technology they too can enjoy the improvements in productivity and prosperity we have! (Of course they have a few other problems like strong labor unions, bloated social welfare programs, etc.)

Jingoistic? Probably but so what? Our economy is working better than anywhere else in the world.
