The monopoly Bob was referring to is the monopoly of the cable operator to provide cable TV service only in one specific area. It makes it very hard (but not impossible) for anyone else to provide cable internet service to that area. I am coming more and more to the realization that the real solution to breaking monopoly power and increasing competiton would be to make it easier to string more wires to the home. Open the right of ways and the cable conduits, don't open the cable electronics. Municipalities could even sell the right of way space like spectrum has been sold. Real competition. ATHM would thrive very well I think. Eric
