I need to take issue with some of what you said Alien. The ISDN routers do not do well due to inherent bugs in the NAT portion of the routers. Very few if any function in the proxy type situation you are talking about. Wingate is nice but still does not do basic attack sigs like the personal firewalls will do. Full fledged proxy can be implemented for low cost in the home but it takes Linux and some knowledge to do it. I have worked with 7 different brands of ISDN router and finally found one that implements NAT properly to pass through UDP ports. The problem is that it is wide open and the firewall now needs to drop back to my individual home PC's to protect. Anyway, my two cents is that a personal firewall/rid solution built in to the virus software would be a very interesting solution to consider.

Of course this is all IMHO,

David
