Iridium must lower its prices to affordable levels. Its satellite capacity goes unused. If they charge $ 2/min for international calls and 50 cents for domestic calls, then they can survive. The phone is very cute though bulkier than most cell phones. But it allows you to call from anywhere.

Today, I am in Lake Tahoe. My Sprint phone would not work here, but I used my Iridium phone with communications as clear as Sprint PCS service. Amazingly clear.

Financial-commercial success will require much lower prices to attract large following.

How about a company like Sprint buying out Iridium. They can use the Iridium satellites to route their regular calls, instead of or in addition to Optical fibres. They can really use this technology marvel in commercial way and offer satellite phone service, in addition to PCS service.
